Lt. Col. Fain H. Pool

15 April 1918 - 11 May 2008

Its with great sadness that we announce the passing of a true American hero and extraordinary man of great accomplishments an courage Lt Col  Fain H. Pool (USAF Ret). In WWII the then Lt. Pool was the first pilot to fly mission in top secret  Project Aphrodite, a project where war weary bombers (B-17s) were packed with explosives and turned into Radio Controlled Bomber Drone. A pilot was required to get the bomber airborne and trimmed so that a controlling plane could fly the drone to the target.

For several years, Col Fain was a museum volunteer serving as a docent and made himself available at various museum functions to share his experiences.

Col Fain was well liked and respected by all of those who were privileged to know him - We at the McChord Air Museum Foundation will miss him very much.
